PRESENTATION

On 5th and 6th June the 3rd Cherry, Art and Tradition Fair is going to take place in La Salzadella.

The Fair is born with the main objective of disclosing the high quality of the cherries from La Salzadella, which are unique due to their amazing flavour.

La Salzadella cherries have been given a CV quality label by the Generalitat Valenciana as a quality product in the Valencian Community.

During the days of the Fair, visitors can have fresh cherries from La Salzadella, they can also enjoy of the high variety of products made with this fruit, such as cherry pies, cherry brandy, jam and also know more about the cherry tree cultivation and cherry properties.

There is going to be a lot of didactic and recreational activities, like a cherry desserts contest, samples with the process of this fruit harvest and package, workshops for children from different traditional trades especially thought up for them, samples of different varieties of cherries, etc.

Moreover, visitors can taste different menus in the village restaurants, prepared exclusively for this occasion, with a high variety of traditional dishes made some of them with cherries from La Salzadella.

The 3rd Cherry, Art and Tradition Fair is going to have the collaboration of more than fifty artists and craftsmen who will show live the carrying out of their works and their most traditional products. It will be also possible to enjoy and learn live from many trades already disappeared, that take part in our culture and heritage.

Our neighbour villages will come once again, showing the North regions appeals in Valencian Community have.

Visitors can also see photography exposures, shows in the streets, musical performances, audiovisual projections, guided tours to the most historical places in the old part of town and a lot of activities which make this experience a never-to-be repeated event for sure.

On 5th and 6th June we wait for you in the 3rd Cherry, Art and Tradition Fair in La Salzadella.

 

 At the beginning of May you will be able to buy cherries from la Salzadella awarded by the Generalitat Valenciana with the quality label CV.

PROGRAMMING 

SATURDAY 5th JUNE

 10.30 a.m. 3rd Cherry, Art and Tradition Fair Opening at Mexico Square with the presence of representatives from our neighbouring villages, Mr Abelardo Ripoll, the mayor of the village, the Municipal Corporation and the Government´s representative, Mr Antonio Lorenzo.

We are also going to have the distinguished presence of Mr Carles Santos, pianist, composer, and regional conductor of international recognition. He is the author of the “Cherry´s Ode” which will be gifted by the composer to Salzadella. The act will be entertained by the local band “Unión Musical Salzadellense”.

12.00 p.m. 3rd Cherry Desserts Contest with the collaboration of the Gastronomy Chair of Universitat Jaume I from Castellón and with the sponsorship of Bancaixa. The winner will be rewarded with the Golden cherry.

6.00 p.m. Traditional dances performance from different villages of Castellón. Sponsored by Caixa Rural.

7.00 p.m. Guided tours around the town. Visitors will be able to see a beautiful garden at Mexico Square from Indiano style, the Calvary, San Blas Agricultural Retailers’ Cooperative -to know about the selection and package process of cherries-, the Virgin Pilar’s altar, the local Parish Church, and the Portal de la Bassa arch, which was one of the four entries when la Salzadella was fortified. 10.00 p.m. At the Local de la Juventud, “Torrà” dinner (grill). Evening spiced up by Orchestra SHANGHAI. Dinner with ticket.

 

SUNDAY 6th JUNE

 10.30 a.m. Fair opening.

11.30 a.m. Guided tours around the town. Visitors will be able to see a beautiful garden at Mexico Square from Indiano style, the Calvary, San Blas Agricultural Retailers’ Cooperative -to know about the selection and package process of cherries-, the Virgin Pilar’s altar, the local Parish church, and the Portal de la Bassa arch, which was one of the four entries when la Salzadella was fortified. 1.00 p.m. Classical cars spectacular arrival and later exhibition at Mexico Square.

6.00 p.m. Traditional dances from La Salzadella. Sponsored by Caixa Rural.

  

During the days of the Fair, visitors can acquire the cherries awarded by the Generalitat Valenciana with the quality label CV, as well as the high variety of gastronomy products made with this fruit, such as cherry pies, cherry brandy, and jam.

Moreover, children will be able to participate and learn in workshops from different traditional trades, especially thought up for them. There will be different artists and craftsmen’s displays live and sale of products, musical performances, and live shows.

Opening ceremony: 10.30 a.m.
Fair opening Saturday and Sunday:
- Mornings: From 10.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
- Evenings: From 5.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.

During these two days of Fair, visitors can taste traditional local dishes in the village restaurants and a large number of cuisine recipes made with our most important local product, the cherry.
